Mission

Our mission is rooted in the belief that every person deserves to live authentically and thrive in an inclusive society. We provide a range of programs and resources designed to empower LGBTQ+ communities and their allies, fostering environments where all individuals can flourish.

OTRP-INSIDE

Over The Rainbow Project operates an educational/mentoring group inside the Department of Corrections.

Our LGBTQ+ Peer Mentors are trained and dedicated to giving back to their communities.

Twice a year, they host an educational group that meets for four months where they learn topics from LGBTQ history, living authentically, how to be an Ally, boundaries, communication and healthy habits to name a few.

Participants join in classwork as a group and meet one-on-one weekly with their Mentor to further expand their knowledge of these topics.

Upon completion, participants emerge with better coping skills and a deep understanding of their LGBTQ+ neighbors and/or themselves.

Graduates have shown marked improvement in overall behavior, lower rates of recidivism and relapse and greater empathy towards others.

We rely on Community Donations to fund our Inside Program, this is NOT state funded!

“The LGBTQ+ training was not only informative and very educational, it also brought to light awareness I know I needed. It was trauma informed and extremely valuable to my chosen field”

“I really believe that if I had this kind of support when I came out at 11 years old, I probably wouldn’t be in prison today”
